Luiza is an expert on New Zealand and Brazilian tax matters working with clients in both countries, specialising in advice and structuring.
In Brazil, Luiza studied accountancy at the Universidade Federal do Ceara, in the City of Fortaleza in 2004, while gaining experience in accounting system support, client relations with the Bank of Brazil and as an assistant accountant for a cashew nut exporter. She then came to New Zealand to study English and since 2008 has worked with two Chartered Accountancy firms in Christchurch while studying for a B.Com in Accounting and Taxation at the University of Canterbury, graduating in 2011.
Her multinational expertise is sought after by the Brazilian community in New Zealand. She keeps up to date and linked with Brazilian taxation through her sister Suany Veras, a qualified accountant and member of the Regional Accounting Council of Ceara State, Brazil. This enables her to provide business structure and tax advice for clients with interest between both countries. She also speaks Spanish along with her native Portuguese.
Luiza is currently studying for her CA certificate and is a provisional member of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand. She is also a tax columnist for a monthly Brazilian magazine in New Zealand.
When she's not at work or study, she spends time with her husband Mike and their three young sons. Luiza loves Latin dancing, meeting new people and enjoying New Zealand's world famous Pinot Noir.
